Tesla has officially opened its first African office in Casablanca, Morocco, marking a significant step in the electric carmaker’s global expansion strategy.
After years of speculation, this move positions Morocco as Tesla’s gateway into the African market and reinforces the country’s growing role as a regional technology and green energy hub.
The new office, situated in the prestigious Casablanca Marina business district, will serve as the headquarters for Tesla Morocco, legally incorporated on 27 May 2025. This marks Tesla’s first formal subsidiary on the African continent. The company has confirmed that its Moroccan operation will offer a full spectrum of services, including vehicle imports, sales, servicing, electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure development, and the deployment of its signature solar and battery energy solutions.

Tesla’s decision to enter Morocco is not entirely unexpected. Back in 2021, the company quietly installed its first Hybrid Superchargers in Casablanca and Tangier — a clear indication of its long-term interest in the North African market. With Morocco’s advanced renewable energy strategy, solid infrastructure, political stability, and strategic trade links with Europe, it offers an ideal launching pad for Tesla’s African ambitions.
Industry analysts note that Morocco’s supportive policies for renewable energy and EV adoption, combined with its well-established automotive manufacturing sector, make it a natural partner for Tesla’s broader clean energy vision. The move may also catalyse further investment in Morocco’s EV ecosystem, potentially encouraging local supply chain development and green job creation.
As Tesla cements its presence in Africa, all eyes will be on whether Casablanca becomes the first of many African cities to host the company’s expanding network. The move reflects both Tesla’s global ambitions and Africa’s increasing relevance in the future of sustainable mobility.
