The Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, in partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC), has announced key updates on the upcoming Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2), scheduled for 8–10 September 2025 in Addis Ababa.
This landmark event aims to elevate Africa’s voice in global climate negotiations and accelerate financing for the continent’s resilient and green development.
Building on the momentum of the inaugural 2023 Nairobi Summit (ACS1), ACS2 will convene African Heads of State, ministers, technical experts, development partners, and civil society under the theme: “Accelerating Global Climate Solutions: Financing for Africa’s Resilient and Green Development.”

The summit is strategically positioned between the G20, UNGA, and COP30, giving Africa a crucial platform to shape global climate and finance agendas. ACS2 will focus on tangible outcomes, tracking progress from ACS1 while launching new partnerships and scaling African-led initiatives in energy, food systems, infrastructure, innovation, adaptation, and just transitions.
According to Ethiopia’s Minister of Planning and Development, H.E. Dr. Fitsum Assefa:

High demand for pavilion space with over 50% already booked
Stakeholder briefings successfully held with AU Member States, AMCEN, UN agencies, and non-state actors

Call for partnership remains open for financial and in-kind contributions to support logistics, youth engagement, and sustainability.
H.E. Moses Vilakati, AU Commissioner for Sustainable Environment, urged:
