A TAAG 777-300ER.Angola’s national airline TAAG Angola Airlines on Saturday received its seventh 777 airliner from Boeing, with the 777-300ER arriving in Luanda after travelling 14 000 kilometres from Boeing’s factory in Washington.
Angola’s transport minister Augusto da Silva Tomas said an eighth aircraft will arrive in Angola this year after financing has been finalised. The Angolan carrier is the largest operator of 777s in Southern Africa.
The latest 777 delivery is part of the first of two being acquired from Boeing. The third 777 was delivered in June 2014. TAAG took delivery of its first 777-300ER in 2011 and became the first African airline to purchase, own and operate the type. The airline also has one of the largest 777 fleets on the continent with a combination of three 777-200ERs and three 777-300ERs, according to Boeing.
Boeing said the latest 777-300ER enables TAAG to augment its service between Angola and Portugal, which increases to double daily effective on 2 June.

TAAG Angola Airlines, based at Quatro de Fevereiro Airport, Luanda, serves 31 domestic and international destinations with a fleet of 14 airplanes, including 737s and 777-200ERs.
