The Lobito Corridor is poised to revolutionise the movement of goods across Africa by providing a more efficient and direct route from the mineral-rich regions of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Zambia to international markets via Angola’s Atlantic port of Lobito.
This strategic infrastructure project encompasses a 1,300-kilometre railway line extending from Lobito to the DRC city of Kolwezi, with plans to connect further into Zambia. By offering a shorter and more reliable passage for exports, the corridor is set to enhance trade flows and reduce transportation costs for landlocked countries in the region.
